Catholic Online selects powerful app for activism
Catholic Online adopts Mobile Politics, 'The most powerful tool since the invention of the ballot.'
Catholic Online is announcing their adoption of the new Mobile Politics application for the iPhone to share the social message of the Church with their own readers, viewers and followers. Mobile Politics is being touted as "the most powerful tool in politics since the invention of the ballot."
Mobile Politics 'provides us with a mobile and web-based platform for direct communication with activists, supporters, volunteers and voters in real-time like no other technology I have ever seen.'
Catholic Online is a for-profit company by design. This permits the organization to share the social message of the Church, which often has political implications. It also allows Catholic Online and its followers to engage in political activism. There is little doubt such a tool is needed. As Deacon Keith Fournier, the Editor-in-Chief for Catholic Online explained, Mobile Politics "provides us with a mobile and web-based platform for direct communication with activists, supporters, volunteers and voters in real-time like no other technology I have ever seen."
The application also allows the sharing of news, alerts, the calendaring of events, and secure contributions to relevant causes. This is the first time such a collection of tools has been gathered into a single application.
"Mobile Politics is a true game changer," according to Deacon Fournier. "I have spent my entire adult life at the intersection of faith and culture. Politics and public policy issue advocacy has been a vital part of my life and work because of the causes and issues I believe so deeply in. We are moving, along with everyone else who understands the real world, into mobile applications in order to more effectively pursue our mission to inform, inspire and ignite our readers and viewers in order to mobilize them to action and leverage our resources."
Tom Panuzio, president of Mobile Politics explained that the app would be especially powerful for young voters. "If you want to communicate with them clearly and effectively, the only way to do it is to interact with them via mobile apps."
Panuzio believes that many young voters in the 18 to 35 age range feel left out of the political process and as if their opinion doesn't matter. "They don't get the invites to the $2,500 per head big fundraisers" he said. However, Mobile Politics is expected to change that sentiment because they can participate in direct dialogue with the individuals and causes they support.
The application was initially developed for the iPhone, and will soon see an iPad optimized version along with an Android version. Panuzio explained the iPhone first approach by saying, "The iPhone app is the gold standard we specifically set out that we wanted to reach the gold standard and working with apple and working with their team we achieved that, we're extremely proud of it."
The app is published and available for FREE download in the Apple App Store. You may download the base version of the app by searching for Mobile Politics in the App Store. After install, you create a Mobile Politics account, with the option to link your social networking to the app. Once done, you can and share news, pulses, and alerts with your friends. You can also get to the app by visiting the Mobile Politics website at www.imobilepolitics.com.

If Catholic Online really wants to reach its audience, they need a matching Android app on Google Play. Many of us can't afford the fees for the Phone and get better deals on the Android phones. But, we do get much of our info on our phones instead of on our computers.
