The President Who Opposes the Right to Life Admits to ABC News He Opposes Marriage

This President's decision to give this interview to ABC news from the Whitehouse sends a signal

The main stream media is abuzz over the acknowledgement by President Barack Obama in an interview with ABC News that he no longer supports marriage as between one man and one woman. Homosexual Equivalency activists want us to hail the Presidents "evolution" as some sort of enlightened act when it is just plain wrong and dangerous for the Nation.  Borrowing a page out of the playbook of the Anti-Right to Life movement they have persuaded the media to use loaded, Orwellian language on one more vital moral issue, marriage. I will not do so.

WASHINGTON,DC  (Catholic Online) - The main stream media is abuzz over the acknowledgement by President Barack Obama in an interview with ABC News that he no longer supports marriage as between one man and one woman. The politically correct way of writing about his announcement would be to follow the verbal engineers in the Human Rights Campaign, the Nation's largest Public Interest Law Firm promoting what they call the "LGBT Agenda", and say the President supports "marriage equality". I will not do so. The President opposes marriage.

I was not surprised that President Obama told Robin Roberts of ABC news on Wednesday, "it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married." It has been his position for a long time. He followed the strategy he has used in the past to sound as though he "struggles" with such profoundly important moral and social decisions. Then, he comes down on the wrong side.

Remember his response to Pastor Rick Warren's question concerning his position on abortion when he ran for the office in 2008?  Since his election he has championed its legal protection in all circumstances and now seeks to compel its funding with federal tax dollars, extracted unwillingly from those who oppose abortion as an intrinsic evil, the taking of innocent human life.

The use of his Vice President and popular Education Secretary earlier in the week to soften the ground for this big reveal - having them come out against marriage as between one man and one woman - was political strategy. He agrees with the homosexual equivalency movement that homosexual sexual practices are morally equivalent to the sexual expression of marital love between a man and a woman.

Now, along with them, he wants to use the power of his office to ensure that Federal and State governments decree that homosexual relationships are legally equivalent to marriage. He is not fond of popular votes such as the recent overwhelming vote of the people of North Carolina to defend Marriage. The President champions the revolutionary cause of building a society where the positive law of the Nation forces us all to call to be a marriage what can never be a marriage - or face the police power of the State for failure to do so.

The truth about marriage is not simply a "religious" construct.  The Natural Law reveals - and the cross cultural history of civilization affirms - that marriage is between a man and a woman, open to children and intended for life. Marriage is the foundation for the family which is the privileged place for the formation of virtue and character in children, our future citizens. The family is the first society, first economy, first school, first civilizing and mediating institution and first government.

To defend marriage is NOT to discriminate against any person, including those who define themselves as homosexual or lesbian. To limit marriage to heterosexual couples is not discriminatory now, nor has it ever been. Homosexual couples cannot bring into existence what marriage intends by its very definition. To now "confer" the benefits that have been conferred in the past only to stable married couples and families to homosexual paramours is bad public policy and will seriously injure the common good.

Marriage between one man and one woman, intended for life and open to the bearing and rearing of children is the fundamental building block of society. The family is the first cell of society. It is a relationship defined by nature itself, revealed and affirmed by the natural law that binds all men and women. Civil institutions do not create marriage nor can they create a "right" to marry for those who are incapable of marriage.

The institutions of a just government are supposed to defend marriage against those who would undermine it - not redefine it out of existence. Government has long regulated marriage for the common good. For example, the ban on polygamy and age requirements were enforced in order to ensure that there was a mature decision at the basis of the Marriage contract.

In the interview with ABC News, as the President attempted to make his decision seem to be a thoughtful evolution, he spoke of his administration's decision to no longer enforce what he called the "Defense against Marriage" Act. The Federal Law his administration refuses to defend is called the "Defense of Marriage "Act. That slip of the tongue is instructive and revealing.

This President's decision to give ...

Such baloney, full of distortions & un-Christian nonsense. But then I would expect nothing less from an organization that lives in a fantasy dreamed up in the past and exists as a totally irrelevant fashion in the 21st century. No wonder no one believes this any more..

Mike, after a long search myself, what has made me realize that the Christian faith is the "correct" faith as you put it, is that of all the other faith traditions, only Christianity, through Jesus Christ, has claimed to be God, the creator. No other faith tradition makes that claim, not even close. Most all other faith traditions have confined themselves to a country, involve mostly the worship of self or are dying.

Tafur: Your quotes are conflicting. I must conclude you are making a quote book? Because not only are the quotes conflicting, so are are their sources. Yet, I think that was your intention? What are Stats on single parent families? I know, you don't have to answer. I have seen, experiencing, lesbian families. And believe me, they only Create more of the same, thus depleting the surplus population. Natural? I don't think so. Common Sense 101? I don't think so.

As retired officer of our military I can tell you that I used to get thanked all the time when I was out in public in my uniform. It was humbling, however, after a period of time, I began responding with how you should thank those who sacrifice so much. If you go no where beyond this sight with your comments and support to those values that have made America the great beacon of hope, than words are cheap. Telling someone thank you just because they wear a uniform is to easy, the sacrifice must be mutual. If you are unwilling to uphold your beliefs in the idea that there is a Creator, from which come our freedoms and rights, than keep your thank you's to your self, they are only so much platitude.

In all my time away from home, family, in all my time enduring unbearable heat and discomfort, in all my time living the harsh realities of war, I often found myself wondering if there was anyone at home defending the home front. If we as Catholic American's are indifferent to the freedoms granted by God, children's birthdays missed, anniversaries away from home, and all the blood spilled was nothing more than a fools errand.

I implore you, to get off your butt's, stop arguing back and forth with people on the web who will never change their minds, it is nothing more than a distraction, a diversion. In your parish right now are people who despite growing up Catholic, are uncertain of the truth, even some pastors. Engage them, if you are afraid you might not know how to defend the Truth, then arm yourselves. Seek to know and understand the Truth, it is timeless. If evil were knocking on your door, attempting to get into your home and threaten your family, would you sit back and wait for him to enter? Or, would you pick up anything, seek anything that you could use to defend home. Well, your home is under attack, it is time to take action.

Seek the Truth, know the Truth, defend the Truth. In the face of what seems overwhelming odds, stand firm, be not afraid.

    Just a correction:

"When men cease to believe in God, they believe in anything" was Dostoevsky, not Lenin.

Larry, this forum is slow, so I ask you, please, to address my words. And perhaps you eventually did Larry, but like a busy signal instead of a dial tone, I stopped reading your post after your first sentence to me. Of what possible intellectual value does such an opening statement have to do with a discussion about the ideas at hand? You aren't the only one who does this here. It's peculiar. Virtually everyone who has engaged me over the last few weeks I've been here is seemingly unable to address typed sentences but is, rather, interested in soothsaying! Perhaps I'll finish reading your post to me later as I don't think I'm obligated in the TOU, to immediately respond to all who apparently want to read my astrological chart. I hope you understand. -Cheers! ~Mike (OK LARRY, I decided to finish reading your post before hitting send, you are making the case for the slippery slope argument, fair enough). It's a legitimate concern, one I don't share, but legitimate. It's ironic, some of the couplings you are concerned about were condoned in your Old Testament! I have to ask, however, there are religions that do not discriminate against same-sex marriage Larry. What makes your faith concerns correct and the other faiths who accept same sex marriages as being wrong? Cheers again! ~Mike

"What we do to our children they will do to society". - Pliny

"The family is the nucleus of a civilization". - Will Durant

"The ruin of a nation begins in the homes of its people". - Ashanti Proverb

"A nation that does not take care of its young cannot hope to survive nor does it deserve to survive". - Father Flanagan

This has been the trend of our nation for the past few decades,

    Any questions?

    Diane,

Your statement that the Nazi SSA was mainly composed of homosexuals was meant as satire right? If not, can you post where you got this information from?

    Thanks,
