LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network ) - Basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal's latest RAOK is catching headlines. The acronym, "RAOK" stands for "Random Act of Kindness," and Shaq says he likes to perform at least one each day.
On Tuesday, a an image appeard on social media of a young man shaking hands with the the 7',1" legend in an Atlanta-area jewlrey store. The man, whose name hasn't been released, was shopping for a wedding ring and made a modest choice. By chance, Shaq was in the store shopping for hoop earrings. Overhearing the man contemplate the purchase, Shaq stepped in, handed his card to the sales representitive, and covered the purchase.
When asked about the price on TNT, Shaq explained that "It wasn't much."
Shaq is known to commit random acts of kindness. He's told the media he tries to perfrom at least one such deed each day.
Imagine how much nicer the world would be if everyone had the same attitude as Shaq!
The term "random act of kindness" emerged in 1982 when author Anne Herbert published a book by the same name. She was inspired by hearing the phrase, "random act of violence" and wanted to counteract such deeds by inspiring more people to do good things.
