LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Manning needed three touchdowns to break the record, and had accomplished that easily by halftime. By the fourth quarter the Broncos had a 42-17 lead over the 49ers, and Manning ended up sitting that quarter out.

It was an 8-yard pass to Demaryius Thomas in the second quarter which gave Manning his 509th career touchdown, passing Brett Favre-the previous record holder-who immediately congratulated Manning with a Twitter post.
"Well it's quite an honor," said Mannning after the Sunday night game, "and like you said, I do have great appreciation for the quarterbacks that have played this game throughout the years, and so I'm honored just to play the position.
"It's very humbling. It's taken a lot of hard work. A lot of people have helped me to this point."
