Marine forces ready for quick response and reaction

The United States government, the CIA, and various Marine quick-response units are bracing for violence and international outrage over the release of an in-depth report that fully details the CIA's interrogation methods since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Senate will release the report today, and it will be the first time a public document on alleged reports of the CIA using torture on al-Qaeda and other militants in the War on Terror has been released.

U.S. officials are worried that this report will incite violence against U.S. installations and interests around the world, especially in the Middle East, parts of Africa and Asia.

Josh Earnest, a White House spokesman, said that the U.S. government has been preparing for the possible international fallout for months prior to the release of the 6,000-page report.

Earnest also revealed that President Obama feels it is important that the American people are made aware of what happened, despite the risks.

Many former and current U.S. officials oppose the release of even part of the reports. International officials in Britain and Poland also are afraid of the documents effects, especially in regards to CIA run prisons in countries like Poland, Thailand and Afghanistan, that did not have U.S. oversight.

Republican congressman and chairman of the House intelligence Committee, Mike Rogers, said during an interview with CNN that releasing this document would be a terrible idea, purely politically motivated, that would lead to "violence and deaths."

"Foreign leaders have approached the government and said, 'You do this, this will cause violence and deaths.' Our own intelligence community has assessed that this will cause violence and deaths."

Even former president George W. Bush spoke in support for the CIA, and its methods during the War on Terror.

"We're fortunate to have men and women who work hard at the CIA serving on our behalf," he said on CNN. "These are patriots and whatever the report says, if it diminishes their contributions to our country, it is way off base."

On December 5, Secretary of State John Kerry even questioned the timing of the report's release, and the "broader implications" that it's release will have on the numerous American hostages being held by militant groups around the world.

Still, Dianne Feinstein (D. CA), the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, demands that the report be published regardless.
