LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Kenji Goto Jogo and Haruna Yukawa are featured in the video in orange jumpsuits on their knees. According to USA Today, the video has been identified as being made by the Islamic State's group al-Furqan media arm.

The militant dressed in black, standing between the two Japanese men, says, "To the prime minister of Japan: Although you are more than 8,000 and 500 kilometers (5,280 miles) from the Islamic State, you willingly have volunteered to take part in this crusade. You have proudly donated $100 million to kill our women and children, to destroy the homes of the Muslims... and in an attempt to stop the expansion of the Islamic State, you have also donated another $100 million to train the (apostates)."

"Their lives are the top priority," said Abe in USA Today. "It is unforgivable. Extremism and Islam are completely different things."

"If true, the act of threat in exchange of people's lives is unforgivable and we feel strong indignation," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said in USA Today. "We will make our utmost effort to win their release as soon as possible."

The Islamic State has been facing more unfavorable situations lately; the have been hit by airstrikes and their revenue from selling stolen oil has likely dropped with the falling oil prices. Their funding may be getting tighter.

As they continue to struggle, the more desperate they may get.
