Chile's Villarrica volcano erupted, causing thousands to evacuate.

Chile's most active volcano finally erupted, after starting to show signs of seismic disturbance a few days ago. The volcanic activity raised alarm to over 3,300 residents who were evacuated from the small towns of Villarrica, Pucon and Conaripe before the eruption occurred.

span style="font-size: 13px;">MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - The fountain of lava spewing from the Villarrica volcano reached up to an incredible 750 meters. Many amateur photographers have captured the spectacular event, and the mainstream media also successfully covered the event.

They captured a significant time lapse of the eruption, in which it shows the first small eruptions until the volcano built up enough pressure to spew a lava fountain.

The awe-inspiring fountain of lava was met by lightning, that was reportedly caused by the hot air that reached the atmosphere from the volcano. It can be described as heaven meeting earth in a passionate kiss.

No matter how pretty in sight it may have been, it has elucidated fearful responses from the people.

According to Mayor Carlos Parra of Pucon in an interview with BBC, "the volcano's activity died down for a while after the initial small explosions and it was very passive and tranquil, but the feel of the air was eerie." A couple of minutes later, the volcano started the show.

A great amount of lava was thrown out onto the outside of the volcano along with rocks and debris that many fear might fall towards the homes of the people when a lahar flow happens. Lahar flows can be caused by melted snow and rain.

Some evacuees have already returned to their homes, while some decided to stay in the evacuation centers.

"There's no ash, no lava flow, the volcano is totally passive at the moment," Mayor Parra said when Chilean President Michelle Bachelet traveled to Pucon earlier this week.
