ALGIERS, ALGERIA (Catholic Online) - The African Union's International Contact Group on Libya met on Wednesday in order to try to quickly find a solution to the nearly four-year-old civil war, and end the violence and bloodshed that has spilled out from the oil rich North African nation.

Stop the genocide of Christians in the Middle East: Please act today!

The attack was carried out on the Corinthia Hotel, and the Islamic State-which has a small presence in eastern Libya and the city-claimed responsibility soon after. Tripoli is currently an international hub for Libya, and various foreign offices are set up in the city.

The African Union will begin contacting all the major players in the current bloody war, and will try to use their influence over some of the factions to force them to come to the negotiating table. Many Sahelian countries are asking for international intervention to end the chaos, afraid that the violence may spill into their own countries.

Niger is one advocate of military intervention, believing that it is impossible to bring Islamist militias to the peace table, especially the groups that control Tripoli and Benghazi.

Being healthy physically and mentally is important, but what are you doing for your spiritual health?

All attempts to for a national unity government has failed, and the government body of Libya in Tripoli did not attend the last round of talks.

Short of unlikely intervention from the United States, Europe or the Middle East, it is likely the African Union that will have to step in. A younger power on the world stage which is now on the cusp of its first true test. All eyes are on the meeting being held in Ethiopia, where the future of North Africa, and in fact much of the sub-Saharan region, will be decided.
