God wants us to have a life worth living; spending time on negative people can bring you down.

Have you ever wondered why you're wasting your energy dealing with the kind of person who brings you down? Or maybe you're the opposite - you're the one who loves too much and does not know how to say "No."

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Reality says that we have all kinds of relationships, romantic, filial or even acquaintance relationships. But surprisingly so, we also have toxic relationships. People that fall on this category are the ones who drain the life right out of us, who drags us down no matter how hard we try to please them and who speak a lot of negative things about us, regardless of our efforts to build a better relationship with them.

With help from crosswalk.com, we have, listed here, the kinds of people who maybe we are and who we are definitely better off without:

Keep a rosary always within your reach. Find the perfect rosaries for home, work and parish.

1. Mr./Ms./Mrs. Gossiper

This person finds fulfillment in talking about and ruining another person's reputation.
They are like walking tabloids that jump to whoever wants to listen. They are very cruel about their words, with very little to no consideration about the feelings of the person they are gossiping about.

2. Mr./Ms./Mrs. Negative

Pessimism always gets ahead of this person. For him/her there's always so much to worry and complain about that they often end up not finishing or not doing the work at all! They always feel defeated and on the losing side because they choose to look at life through their cloudy lenses.

This is a lie because God intends every child of His to be victorious! If you stick around them too long, you might believe the lies and adapt to having the same attitude.

3. Mr./Ms./Mrs. Addict

It does not necessarily mean a substance. It can also be habits that are destructive, not just to that person but to the other people around him/her.

God will test your patience. This person needs help. You will definitely be better without them, but they need people who have the courage to tell them the truth; not those who will ignore their self-destructing behavior. You can be that person, too.

This holy season, remember the patron saint who watches over thee! Honor your patron saint with faith

There's still so much to learn in life about how to deal with people, especially with the wrong ones. But in deciding whether to stay or to leave the relationship, always remember to consider the pros and cons. Weigh your options and list down why you should and why you should not. Most importantly, seek the advice of Godly women who can be used by God to speak to your life. They are far more reliable than ten volumes of encyclopedias because they love God, and God blesses everyone who loves Him with wisdom, if only they ask.

Sometimes, life also spares us expensive moments of blatant realizations when we turn the mirror towards our hearts and we see that it is us that God wants to change. It is our attitude that God wants to polish - our patience, the way we make people feel loved and the trust towards Him that He wants to build in us. Sometimes, the fault is not in them, but in us.

We have to acknowledge that too, because if we do not, then what different are we to them? Instead, we need to change our patterns, not to suit theirs, but to encourage them with the way we live our life - in peace even during turbulent times, joyful even during sad times, and humble even during triumphant moments. All of these are possible with God in our hearts.
