LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Sitting down and thanking God for everything you have is one way to help you realize the little blessings in your life. You can also pray for guidance.

It is important to remind yourself that everyone, from Pope Francis to your next door neighbor, has bad days where they feel like their life is in a rut.

1. Will it matter a year from now?

So you forgot to pay the water bill on time and you got a warning notice, do you think you'll remember this day in a year? Probably not. Whatever is bothering you today, is most likely not going to be bothering you a year from now. It is OK to laugh at yourself when you mess up.

2. Britney Spears survived 2007

That infamous moment when Britney Spears shaved her head and whacked a vehicle with an umbrella is deeply embedded in most people's minds. But hey, guess what? Britney survived. She was down, probably as low as a person can get. And she made it through and has her life back. Compared to that life melt down and dramatic turn around, you're current worry probably isn't as bad as it seems.

3. You're still alive

Thank God your heart is beating, you are breathing and you are alive. "Don't let ungratefulness affect the health of your mind and spirit," states Elite Daily.

4. You can always go spoil yourself

Do something for you. Take care of yourself, and your life will soon get a little bit brighter.

5. You are really not alone!

It's hard to remember that everyone sweats the small stuff. Everyone has days where they are just done and want to call it quits. There is someone out there feeling the exact same way as you. Someone just had a bad day at work, someone has a screaming toddler in a grocery store and someone just got a flat tire in rush hour traffic; someone out there is feeling the same type of pain and stress that you are right now.

According to Elite Daily, acknowledge that and try to move on. A better day is coming.

6. No one is stopping you

This is true. No one is stopping you from feeling better, except you. Your mind twists the littlest of problems and obsesses on them until they seem insurmountable. "Do you know who's boss of the let's-make-this-girl-freak-the-hell-out-over-nothing department in your mind? You are," states Elite Daily. Take back control of your life.

7. Special moments will come again

So you had a completely horrible Christmas; you burnt the turkey, maybe the Christmas tree fell over. Stop stressing about it, smile and try again next year. That's the awesome thing about family gatherings, they will come again. You have another chance at making good memories.

8. Life is short

This is more than just an overused cliche. You are only given a certain amount of time on Earth. Do you really want to waste it wallowing in self-pity because something didn't turn out the way you hoped? No. Pick yourself up, and act. The only way to get to where you want to be is by doing. We don't have time to waste; make the most of every day.
