The Bible is the world's most printed book, but demand remains high.

There are hundreds of thousands of people, possibly millions, who want a Bible and cannot have one. The Bible is the world's most sought-after, most printed book. Bibles are in so much demand that we have them in hotel rooms, prison cells, and on virtually every book shelf in America. Yet, there are millions of people who want a Bible and have none.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - In all of history, an estimated five billion Bibles have been printed. Yet today, there are nearly 8 billion people on the planet. That's a shortfall of at least 3 billion people. The Bible is printed in every language and can be found in every country, but for many people, the book is inaccessible.

Even though Bibles can be shared, there are moments when a person simply needs to be alone with the Word. This is why Your Catholic Voice Foundation (YCVF) is working very hard to provide Bibles to people who want them all around the world.

In America, people take the Bible for granted. Yet, in some places people hunger for a Bible nearly as much as they yearn for food and water. The Bible has a hopeful message. It has useful instruction. It imparts morals and answers questions. It's as essential to a good and fulfilling life as proper nutrition. Let's not forget to nourish the spiritual needs of our brother and sisters.

YCVF is accepting donations for three categories: Single Donation, Children, and U.S. Military and Veterans.

A Single donation
will send two Bibles to where they are needed, printed in the language of the people receiving them.

A Children's donation will provide two Bibles to children who are also anxious to read about all the wondrous things recorded in the Bible.

A U.S. Military and Veterans donation
will allow YCVF to send a Bible to service personnel and veterans. The Bible provides spiritual encouragement and hope to those who put everything on the line to protect our country and the lives of millions of people around the world.

Both deployed personnel and returning veterans try very hard to cope with the struggles of loneliness and danger that comes with the work they do. One sergeant shared, "We are trying to cope . . . We would like some help."

Will you be the one to help?

Earlier this month, Pope Francis called on all people to perform acts of charity, to keep copies of the Bible, or at a minimum, the gospel, on hand for everyday reading and reflection. Our children and our soldiers deserve this kindness.

The millions of people around the world who yearn for the words of God are looking to you to help them grow closer to God. For many reasons, they don't have ready access to the one book that has served you, me, and billions of others for inspiration.

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.
