MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - However, the movie was given positive approval and remarks from 88 percent of the audience, which poses a wide disparity to the mere 10 percent of film critics giving it positive remarks. What caught the attention of the filmmakers of "Little Boy" was not just the wide discrepancy between the two sides, but the remarks given as a description of the whole movie.
In a statement issued to The Blaze, the filmmakers emphasized the different criticisms posted, "from a variety of critics whose attacks on the film ranged from 'phony-baloney,' 'more artificial than a polyester teddy bear stuffed with Splenda and Cheez Whiz,' to 'shameless,' 'manipulative,' 'horrifically misguided,' and 'stupid.'"
In an article by The Wrap, movie critics described just how much they despised the whole movie, while some of the professional film reviewers commented that "Little Boy" had presented a twisted side of the Almighty.
These criticisms are also in wide disparity on how the media described and appreciated the story. Among others, Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly praised the film as it sets new positive standards for family movies, saying it was "well done." In an assessment of 3,575 audience members, "Little Boy" received an overwhelmingly positive rating of 4.4 over 5, 88 percent of flattering responses.
"Little Boy" is a story set in the 1940's about a 7-year-old boy wanting to bring his father back home after the Second World War, doing whatever he could to do to get his dad back. The movie was given a rating 6.5 out of 10 in IMDb and of 1.5 over 4 by Roger Ebert.
